Good Afternoon!

WHALE is pretty excited this week – we’ve got our next issue in the works and things are looking extremely attractive! We’ve also received all of our submissions and we’re currently poring through them in an effort to select the best reading for next issue! Below are some fun “teasers” to share the content with you that we’re putting together for Issue II.
hello
 – Our cover is currently in the works, and is being illustrated by Richard Perez of Skinny Ships. You can check out his website here while you’re anticipating our amazing Issue II WHALE cover. Original art, just for us! We’re also featuring Richard’s artwork in an article.
hello
– We’ve got an article on emerging fiction writer Elizabeth Percer’s upcoming work An Uncommon Education. The book is an excellent read, and will soon be released on May 1st. We luckily not only received an early copy, but interviewed the author herself! We’re pretty excited about her feature, and we hope that you are too. You can read more about her at her website here.
hello
– We have fiction and non-fiction works from many new authors, and have upcoming articles on fun topics such as Kepler 22b and the Ocean Renewable Power Company.
hello
In other news, we’ll be starting two new columns this week from our author Sarah Caouette and our designer Nicholas Haury! Miss Caouette will begin a Sunday column this week on reflections and general thoughts, and Nicholas will begin his art and design column on this upcoming Tuesday. We are excited to generate more interactive content for our readership, and hope that you will email us with fun topics or comment on the new columns as we begin this next week.
hello
We would also like to announce this Saturday’s Twitter Contest! We’re going to be taking suggestions via our Twitter (@whalemagazine) for short flash fiction prompts from our staff writer Lora Hibbard. She loves writing new, short stories and will be choosing a few of the prompts so be sure to tune in on Saturday afternoon at 2pm EST as the contest begins! Don’t forget to be extra creative for your prompt! She’ll choose the best ones and will be writing a few short stories over the next few months. Submit a prompt and you could win!
hello
We are hoping to have Issue II to you soon – both to current subscribers as well as new readers as well. We will have Issue II available soon in digital format as we continue to seek new advertisers and supporters to print it. We are currently looking into publishing one issue in print annually, and releasing digitally for the other three issues each year. We appreciate your patience in bearing with us as we produce a beautiful publication for you to enjoy.
hello

We leave you with this quote from author Albert Camus: “Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present.” This quote keeps us inspired while we “give our all” for the next issue!hell

hello
